Grading:

I ° Dilation of the veins in mucosal level                                                                                                          II ° Single, straight-running veins, reaching already into the lumen of the esophagus, however, only slightly restrictive
III ° Strong, tortuous-running veins that significantly narrow the lumen
IV ° Almost complete relocation of the lumen and signs of bleeding risks (cherry red spots)
