Anamnesis   18 years old patient, who had after an abundant meat meal globus sensation, dysphagia, and regurgitation. He wasn´t able to drink liquids.
Examination findings   No physical examination findings
Laboratory   Unremarkable findings
Endoscopy   EGD: White fibrous bolus in cardia. The bolus can be pushed into the stomach without significant pressure. In the area of the bolus, there is circular reddened mucosa of the oesophagus.

The middle third of the eosophagus shows a thickened whitish mucosa with typical linear grooves. The pliers-biopsy leads to a strong burst of the mucosa. Significant hypomotility of the oesophagus.

 

Oesophagus mucosa with moderat florid chronic oesophagitis and more severe tissue eosinophilia.

Diagnosis   Bolus in motility disturbances in eosinophilic oesophagitis
DD   Secondary reactive oesophagitis in persistent bolus situation
